Visa Services / Letters of invitation (LOI)

Please note, the information given is for illustration purpose only. We do not provide visa support / letter of invitation unless you book a tour package of your entire journey in Turkmenistan.

All travellers to Turkmenistan require a visa. Visa documentation by the Turkmen Authorities requires at least 14 days processing

AYAN can provide you with an invitation / visa support letter (essential to obtain a visa) for a fee of USD 50 for a maximum stay of 2 weeks. Obtaining official government approval of the invitation letter usually takes 10-14 days. Additionally we request that you book services with AYAN.

The relevant amount is payable to us in advance. Credit cards are not acceptable.

Visa Application

With a faxed or e-mailed copy of the invitation letter you can apply for your Turkmen visa at any Consulate worldwide by yourself. For stays up to 10 days you can obtain the visa at Ashgabat airport @ USD 61 payable in cash (please bring change). Actual visa fees and issuance times vary between 30-100 USD. Some Embassies can issue the visas by mail using courier services at your cost.

Police / OVIR Registration

All travellers should report their final travel dates and route to our office. If your stay in Turkmenistan exceeds 5 days, you need to obtain Police / OVIR registration. We will handle this for you and you should report to our office within three working days of your arrival in Turkmenistan. We will require two passport sized photographs, your passport and a $5.00 fee. The registration process takes 1/2 working day.

Nature Reserves / Border Zones

For travellers intending to visit Turkmenistan's fascinating Nature Reserves and the relevant border zones please note that these have to be specified in your invitation letter to facilitate your trip. Necessary permits can then be obtained through us upon arrival in Ashgabat.

Transit Visas

With few exceptions Transit visas are subject to the same processing and fees as tourist visas. Please contact the relevant Turkmen Consular Office for confirmation. This also applies for visitors transiting at Ashgabat airport to another airline or continuing immediately to the Iranian border. For the Moscow-Nukus-Tashkent and the Tashkent-Dushanbe Train no transit visas are officially required if a through ticket can be shown.

Unfortunately, we do not provide invitation letters for journalists or travellers wishing to engage in missionary or propaganda activities.

Upon request and against a small fee we can deal with your visa arrangements on the spot in Ashgabat - against a small fee most visas can be issued through us within one day of your stay. For Double- or Multi Entry please contact our Operator.

Entry Travel Pass / Voucher

In addition to your visa for Turkmenistan an entry travel pass / voucher is required. Your entry / exit dates and points as well as your intended routing have to be specified in it and will cost you USD 10 per person.Please do your best to provide us with your exact travel plans.We issue the voucher 2-4 days prior your arrival and deliver it to your entry point.
